I have a contract to set up local printers for roaming laptop users. Several customers with laptops move around different offices and plug in the usb printer on that site. Therefore, each laptop will be connecting to a different printer each day.
The printers are all the same model: HP DJ 5740.
The problem is, if a user visits 15 sites he will have 15 HP DJ 5740's listed in his list of printers. This means he has to maually select his default printer every time he moves site.
This didn't happen with parallel printers - you only had 1 printer listed no matter how many printer you connected to.
It appears each usb printer has an address of some sort.
Is there any way round this?
