Multiple Hard Drives; Profiles, Access Rights???

I'll do my best to explain this.....

I have a total of 3 hard drives. Drive 1 is loaded with Win XP. Drive 2 is loaded as a slave and is storing all saved data (i.e. music, important files, etc). I use this drive as the "My Documents" folder. Drive 3 has a new clean installation of Win XP. Drive 2 is mounted in my tower permanently, while drive 1 and 3 are removable. Only 2 drives are useable at one time (because I also have 2 ROM's).

When I log into windows using drive 1 and 2, Windows recognizes both drives, and the folders on drive 2 are within my login profile, "Andre" (I confirm this because the built in features that come with XP names the folders there, "My Documents" "My Pictures" etc...).

When I log into windows with the new install on drive 3 with drive 2, both drives are recognized, but drive 2 is NOT in my profile (because the folders are now called "Andre's Documents" "Andre's Pictures" etc). It seems to me the folders on drive 2 are being treated with ownership when booting with drive 1, but only as shared when booting with drive 3.

Here's another example of the problem. Drive 2 is labeled "Data". When I boot with drive 3, I would like to rename the drive to "Media" but I get an error saying that I don't have permission rights to change the drive properties. My rights are set to Administrator.

How can I take full access control of drive 2 using the new XP install on Drive 3?

I would say this is an ownership issue. I know whenever I have installed a new copy of Win XP without migrating user accounts, it would not let me access the my documents folders for the users of the old install of XP. I'm a litle bit rusty on it but I beleive all I had to do was take ownership of that folder. I know for sure that it was in the "security" tab under properties that I fixed it. It also mentions about disabling simple file charing if you don't see the security tab. Also here is an article on how to copy user data from an old profile to a new one.

However, I think you might have to solve the ownership rights issues first. Hope this helps!
