Multiple Forms for 1 table 2

I have a table where a few departments use.
I have created a form and would like to use this design for each dept. I have made defaulted values to some field that are specific to the dept.

The problem I have is that when the form is opened by s specific dept. they can still view the entries of other dpets.

Is there a way to filter the form permanently (rather than filtering it every time the form is opened) so it only shows the records specific to the dept? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

you could create a table with DeptID, Department and User.
Add the Department ID to the main table then create a login in form when the user logs in check the user to the department when you have the department open your main forn but use a query to supply the data to your form. In the query select all the fields and in the criteria of the Department ID Grab it from your Login form.

after login hide the login form after the main form after it is open close the login form.

This probally seems like a lot and could posibally if you already have a substantial amount of records in your table.
But it is fairly simple to create. If you need help you can let me know.

What I've done is create a query for each department and made a form from that. I've also made some of the fields defaulted department specific.

I'm not familiar with the logon form and using that to open the form by userID. Can you assist on this?

I'm not very proficient with access.

Thanks a million. Although I have not implemented the login script you have provided. It has helped me enormously in understanding the concept.

I will put in place but it'll probably next week due to other issues that take priority.
