Hi all,
I am using Flash MX, I have a text box in which I have selected portions of the text and given them different fonts in different sections. for instance I have a Header in a different font then my body text, but all in the same text box. This comes out fine when the text box is Static, however I want to add a scroll bar which I can only do to a Dynamic Text Box. When I change the text box to Dynamic, I can still see my text fonts in the Flash Preview (the main window) however once I publish to SWF I can't see my text. I can't see any text but I can scroll. The scroll bar works but the text field seems to be blank.

If anyone can help I would be much appreciative. Thank you for you time.

It's down to the embedding of fonts - the dynamic text box has to have the fonts embedded but you can only embed one font per box.

You can get around this by using HTML formatting in your textbox and setting the fonts in your HTML tags.

You'll need every font you need to display embedded somewhere in your movie (I usually create layer specifically for textboxes containing the fonts the movie needs).

Remember also that if you want tot use bold or italic etc versions of your fonts they have to be embedded separately or they won't display.

How? I have made a dynamic text box on the same frame as my previous one and just given it one of the fonts I used in my Multiple fonts box. Then I set it to embed font outlines for all characters. This text box works but my first one still doesn't. Shouldn't this font now show up in both text boxes?
thanks

Are you using but the same style (normal, bold and/or italic...) in both textfields?

Can you post a link to a quick mockup .fla, replicating the problem, zipped up and in MX only format, not MX2004?

Actually you won't be able to open that file in 5.

Thanks Wangbar,
That is gonna take me a hell of a long time but if it's the only way...
Thanks a lot for your time mate.

Pity you're not on MX2004 - you could do the whole thing with Cascading Style Sheets...

Tell me about it!
well, I'm going to bed, it's midnight here. I have to take my file down now, don't want the baddies to get it. lol. anyway, rock on Bro.
