Earlier today I started to receive multiple errors on my siwtch. Any thoughts on what is causing them?

slot 3 100INA
slot 4 100INA
slot 5 016
slot 6 Merlin Messaging 3.0

I jsut lost the system two more time this morning. i am thinking that it may be a bad processor? any thoughts

I would power down and re-seat the cards first, and see if that corrects anything.

Be careful to power up the 2nd carrier about 10 seconcds prior to the 1st.

If not, I would buy out each card and see what happens.

I really never suspect the processor, but anything can happen. I would usually suspect that either another card is causing this or the power may be to blame.

Also, is this a "LAB" machine or one in use?

I will try that. this is a live machine. it has been working for a while now and it just stareted to have these issues. I tried a frigid restart and the smae thing happened

Any power surges / outages lately? If so, could have fried something. 7802, 7804 errors are for modules with extensions only, but with a bad processor, who knows. If if were me, I'd try to restore the programming from an autobackup, or a known good configuration. If something hiccupped, it could still be in the programming even after a restart. After that, if there is still the same sort of errors, you may start swapping cards. Busying them out first to see if the errors went away, might give an insight as to what's going on. And there i$ alway$ Avaya'$ Technical $upport.

thansk I called Avaya and they game the the run around this time and would not get to a tech even though I was willing to pay

Glad their equipment is better than their service.

I called Avaya and they game the the run around this time and would not get to a tech even though I was willing to pay" - what's up with that?? - that is what made me drop avaya as my main product - best move i ever made!

Their products are good but they still need to work on their customer service...not everyone can afford a service contract

Seems like if they haven't gotten the customer service thing down yet then it ain't gonna happen!

About the Tech Support, from what I understood, as of June 2003, Tech support would only be availible for Customers with an IL number or Business Partners. And they all still have to pay $200 an hour as well.

Jinxs,

I hate to say this, but that's why so many folks rely on people like you and me to get their Tech Support.

COLOADMIN, what part of the country are you in?

Perhaps I could dial in and see what is happening?

Let us know.....

I am in Ohio. Thanks for the offer but I have resolved this issue. IT was indeed a bad processor. I have not have an issue with Avaya in the past this is the first time I have had an issue with them

In the past, I would say there is no such thing as a bad PROCESSOR.

Recently, I have seen a few.

Most, I have been able to fix, some, I have not been so lucky with.

But I still maintain that processors VERY SELDOM are the cause of the problem.

Usually, replacing the processor just allows you to start with a CLEAN SLATE!

That bit me REAL HARD with a BAD 100-D card a few weeks ago.

Changing the processor made the system work, so the processor was assumed to be the BAD ACTOR.

However, after a short time, the trouble came back.

AND IT WAS NOT THE PROCESSOR at all.

Of course, my trouble was somewhat different than yours.

Good luck....

I'm going to have to chime in regarding the Avaya comments. I whole-heartedly agree. Not only does their documentation and website stink, their reps in tech-support have even a higher degree of odor. I have never in my life had to interact with a company that charges an outrageous amount of money for support, and treats you like you just kicked their Poodle or their pick-up truck. I feel like such a complete burdon when I call them, and half the time they don't get the issue resolved.

Avaya sucks, their products are ok - I switched to ESI and couldn't be happier - their tech support is awesome, their sales support is great and their products have more capabilities at a far lower price. Kind of seemed like a no brainer at the time and has proved to be just that. They have great features, killer IP functionality and i haven't regretted dropping AVaya once!.

ok finally found what was causing the issue. We did have a bad processor, all 5's and stange characters were showing up on the phones, and a bad 100INA board. After replacing the processor the system was still acting strangely. Errors were showing up on all the cards and the voice mail would constantly reboot. I took out the voice mail and one of the 100INa boards that were in the system as it had the most errors and the system worked fine. After replacing the 100INA board the voice mail and the rest of the system worked ok. The INA board must have been jsut putting out garbage causing a miscommunication between the processor and the rest of the modules.

Thanks for everyones help
