Being relatively new to managing Groupwise, this may be an easy question for the experts out there. We have several options set up for internet e-mail domains on our GW 6.5 server. I understand how to override the preferred domain name for users that need it and users receive their e-mail fine using the alternate domain names. However, when they send externally, their address still shows up as our primary domain rather than the one they were switched to. Any thoughts?

When you override, then select the new domain, that should do it. However, one thing that you should notice is that you'll be prompted to accept that the email address changes (from old domain to new domain). If that doesn't happen, something isn't working correctly and your change isn't happening.

You can test this by changing back and forth between domains, then apply, and you should see what I mean.

I checked that and the notification does come up that the address will switched and this will affect all e-directory queries. But when I send out, it still comes from the primary domain, not the other one....

Its possible that the change isn't taking affect on the backend. I've seen this happen when the Domain database is corrupt.

Try doing a rebuild on the Domain database...Right click the Domain object --> System Maintance.

- Verify Database - Run this to do a quick check and make sure path is all good. You still need to rebuild even if there are no errors.

Then

- Rebuild Database - This will most likely fix things if there are problem. You need to take GroupWise down to do this correctly.
