Avaya Magix rookie here- Was wondering if someome could inform me on how to assign, off a PRI switch with receive digits matching extensions, an appearance of a Manager's DID to a receptionist phone. The receptionist does have her own DID. I was thinking in terms of a Norstar where we refer to it as an Answer DN, where the line doesn't actually appear but rings via an intercom key. Any help would be greatly appreciated. System is a Merlin Magix with latest software release and Merlin Messaging, also with current SW release..

On the Legend, you would use 'coverage', but it takes a button appearance.

J, would that be the same as Call Coverage, or is that feature solely used for Vmail functionality?

Yes, call coverage. I've never done it on Magix, but on the Legend you can set 'primary' 'secondary' or 'group'. Group is often used for voicemail, but can be used in other applications. You would probably go to the administrative assitant's set, and programm a 'primary coverage' button for the manager's extension number. Another possiblity might be a bridged call appearance (would be more like a key system where the same 'line' actually appears on both phones). I've never actually used bridged, but I think that might be an option, too.

go with the Bridge Access feature. if the manager wants his calls answered first, then the bridge access is the way to go. Bridged access puts the appearance of his intercom buttons on her phone.
