Multiple detail lines grouped by unique number

Using crystal version 7, with sequel database

Report showing

logno. 1 <group>
detail contact 1
detail contact 2
detail contact 3
logno.2<group>
detail contact 1
logno.3<group>
detail contact 1
detail contact 2
detail contact 3
detail contact 4

Along the detail line are fields that describe the reason for contact that is loged with a system generated logno.

I want to group the report further on one field that lies on the detail line, but only want one instance per logno.

I can sort and get the report to display

logno1
detail contact1
logno2
detail contact2
logno3
detail contact3

using suppress function but when I group by the field on the detail line it brings the additional contacts into the report.

Please can you help with this
