Multiple date parameters did work, now they don't? 1

Hi,

I have a report that has amongst others, 3 date parameter ranges.

These worked fine, but subsequent to additional work on the report, the parameters selected don't hold the values selected.

To elaborate, originally, when I selected a range Jan to Mar in Date param 1
and April to June in Date param 2
and July to Sep in date param 3, I would get the relevant date ranges.
Now, when I select my date parameters, all 3 parameters match the last parameter entered, i.e. they don't hold the originally selected parameters.

What's even more bizarre is that I have saved and run different versions of the same report with no problems at all, and now, all versions of these reports will not allow me to select a date range per parameter.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Can anyone provide some insight please.

I rewrote my report, kept it basic, put in the 3 date parameters but still no luck. I'm guessing I have inadvertently changed some setting in my options. If so, no idea which settings I might have changed?

What version of CR?
What is the exact data type of the parameters?
What is the selection formula of the report?
What do you mean by "All 3 parameters match the..."

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the response.

CR Version 8

Data type is date time which I have selected to convert to date. In the parameter the Data Type is selected as date.

I have tried 2 different selection formulas
1.)
{PLY_POLICY.PLY_EFFDATE} in [{?First Date Range}, {?Second Date Range}, {?Third Date Range}]
2.)
{PLY_POLICY.PLY_EFFDATE} = {?First Date Range}
or
{PLY_POLICY.PLY_EFFDATE} = {?Second Date Range}
or
{PLY_POLICY.PLY_EFFDATE} = {?Third Date Range}

With my trying to find out what the issue was, I have been trying different options, and cannot remember which selection formula was the one that worked originally, although it should have been number 2 as this was from a report provided to me after asking for some assistance.

When refreshing the report and selecting date range in parameters, if I select 01/01/2002 to 01/31/2002, go next date parameter and select 02/01/2002 to 01/28/2002 and to third select 03/01/2002 to 03/31/2002, the dates selected in the last date parameter i.e. 03/01/2002 to 03/31/2002 then becomes the default for both date parameters 1 and 2. So, what was once 3 date parameters, is only one now, as only a single date selection is being held.

This report originally ran fine (and previous versions of it), now none of the reports want to select each date parameter as an independent selection.

Both selection formulas should work and the selection formula has no effect on the prompt's behavior.

How do you know that the selected dates become the defaults for the first two ranges? Are you going back to those parameters lines after you have entered the values for 3? Don't do that, since CR will make you reenter the values if you revisit them. Enter them once, run the report, and see if you get the correct dates.

To confirm the values held by these ranges, write three formulas that are like:

"From: " + ToText ( Minimum ( {?Date Range} ) ) +
" To: " + ToText ( Maximum ( {?Date Range} ) )

and place these on the report. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Hi Ken,

Well, I've had my 5 minutes of stupidity. Indeed, You are correct, I was "revisiting" the previous parameters all the time.

Much obliged.
