Gang,

I have several databases with only one .mdw file. What I would like to do is to log into a 'master' database just once, then be able to open any database from within that master without having to log in to each and every one. Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions or know of any utilities that accomodates this?

Thanks

Lee

Here's the thing. You can log onto the database using the .mdw file a single time and open every one of your protected databases all day long without logging on. However, you need to not close the instance of Access you are logged in to. In other words, use the menu File/Open to open another protected database without having to log in. If that doesn't suit you then you could use the /user and /pwd switched in an icon to automatically log on. This has the rather unpleasant affect of allowing anyone with access to you computer the ability to read your username and password from the icon properties.

The workgroup defines your username/password and the database contains you access permissions. So, after the first time you log on to an instance of Access it retains your username/password.

That works great. I also found the code to make it much easier at
By using command buttons and setting variables at the OnClick Event, you can open any database that you want. The username and password does have to be hardcoded, but since it is only on my PC and noone else can access it (yea right), I feel comfortable. Besides, I made my master a .mde to remove the source and keep the master elsewhere.

Thanks though!
