Is there any limit to the number of databases you can have on the same server? or is it simply a case of you can keep running more until it grinds to a halt?

Unusual scenario where we will have to run 16 different databases (actually the same database structure, but different data on each) on the same box. Not talking about a huge number of users (<100) and know it's not ideal, but being a 3rd party piece of software db restructuring isn't an option. Just as well memory is cheap.

limit is 32thousand? i cannot remember offhand. but its pretty much more than anyone will really ever use.

you are quite safe with 16 at least in terms of sqlserver limiting the number of databases.

I've got a server with over 200. You should be fine at 16.
