Using Excel and Access XP and no programming in this procedure. I have a file of 20000 records with about 12 different column headings. I create a pivottable view and save as interactive DAP.. this produces the htm file and also a folder with the same name with the underlying data. This is necessary so if someone is viewing a particular row and column on the top page, and want to drill down or drill through to the supporting data they can click on that cell and see the supportting records.. This all works fine.
Now someone asks for the same process, but with different fields appearing in the row headings. I have no problem producing this view and save a an htm, with supporting htm file and folder. Before long there are different favorite views, 6 HTM files and 6 folders of the large amount of data.
To reduce space on the server, I suspect these folders have the same exact data in them, and I would like all 6 HTM files to use the same supporting data folder. I do understand the concept of pivottable is that the user should be able to change out column, row and data items dynamically, but these users are far and wide, not educated in the fine art of pivoting. So I want to deliver all 6 htm files but with 1 underlying supporting folder.
Can I do this?.
