We have about 17 companies formed mainly to take advantage of tax.
We need a common GL account set for all the companies. Initially while setting up its very easy, all we need to do is export one GL into all others but maintaining the GL account set is getting too difficult as various people work on various companies and we sometimes end up creating duplicate GL codes.
One option is to have only one person responsible for maintaining GL codes.
I was thinking is there a way to replicate the GL accounts table to the other databases or anything like that.
Any advice would be gratefully received but if it sounds like a dumb question its probably because we have only that much knowledge on the system.

You can't do SQL replications, adding a new account does more than simple add a record to GLAMF. Your best option is making one person responsible.

I have a client with the same setup. We created a dummy company where all GL accounts are maintained, and this chart of accounts is then exported/imported to the other companies. Designated users have rights to add/maintain GL accounts in this dummy company, in that way all companies are kept in synch. I wrote a macro to push the account additions to all the other companies.

Ettienne,
Is there a way to contact you outside of the forum ? I had seen you post your website some time back. I tried to get that post by google search but couldn't.
