I have a 3300 MXE (r8.0.8.8) that have several T-1s running both local and long distance for a customer. The client wants to add one user who will only use a LS line for outbound and inbound calls. While everyone else can go in/out the T-1s. Also they do not want the console to be able to transfer calls to this person as well.

What would be the best route to take for this situation? They are giving him a 5224 as well.

Set up 1 or more COR for that user
Also set up route etc etc

COR will only allow for the outbound part of your challenge.

To prevent transfers inbound from the console you will require Interconnection tables.

The simplest method that I can think of

All other sets - Interconnection 1
All other trunks - Interconnection 2

New set - Interconnection 3
New Trunk - Interconnection 4

Allow interconnection from 1 <-> 2, 1 <-> 3, and 3 <-> 4

Deny Interconnection from 1 <-> 4, and 2 <-> 3

Finally program the line as a DTS key directly on the phone for outbound and inbound calling

Why don't give this person an analog phone and patch this CO line straight to the desk or use analog line module for IP phone?

Slapin, I was assuming that the users want to be able to call each other internally. If this is not the case, your suggestion is quite valid.

Users can call over CO line since in most cases all business lines have at least unlimited local calls plan.

You can have a speed dial "extension" as well. But according to description I assume it is a person using space in the office but not an employee of the company.

kwbMitel, you warned about assumptions :)

I know that it is not good, but I have to ask "why" it has to be built this way.

In maority of cases people asking for configurations they know, not because they really need it.

Typical example is a reception desk with a key system emulation instead of using AA. Not because business needs it, but just because a manager had this configuration at his previous place.
