Hi,

Im trying to project a new design for a client who sells his Holly Bible version.

The project is very complex but im experimenting troubles with Capital letters.

Need to know whats the "not to dangerous" resource to produce perfect Capital in variable lenghts (from Genesis Cap 1 to Salm 150).

1. Caps Plug in -- breaks the text and produces incontrolable results.

please replyes to my mail box: pubah#uol.com.br

thanks!

2. In line EPS graphics -- cool but so very time comsuming.

3. ? --maybe there is another way to produce "profseeional caps" without time consuming caracter styles.

I am sorry no-one has replied to your post yet, but I think your English is a little hard to follow (but I am sure way better than I would be in whatever your native language is!)

I am guessing here - but are you referring to 'drop caps'? that is, where the first letter in a new chapter is larger and extends well below the baseline of the rest of the words in the paragraph?

If so, is your problem maintaining consistency in how far down the dropped cap appears?

If you go to Utilities>>Plugins>>Drop Caps, you will get the choice here of specifying how many lines down you want the drop cap to be - the default is three lines, but you can make it whatever you want. Unfortunately (like all the other effects produced by Plugins) you cannot make this into a style. You have to have your cursor within the paragraph (with the text tool selected), then apply the drop cap.

I am not sure what you mean by 'breaks the text and produces incontrolable results'. However, make sure you apply the drop cap after the paragraph is completed, not when you type the beginning letter.

I hope this reply has helped - if not, post back and ask more questions.

¿I think .com.br is brasil?

Eggles, thanx, I think you figured out the question. I was stumped on what was being asked. i doubt we would fare any better trying to answer in Portugese. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Pubah sent me an email after I alerted him to the fact that I had posted a reply here, and I more or less guessed right. His problem is that he has got a LOT of dropped caps to do (he is working on a 2000 page publication). I am not aware if there is any quicker way of generating the dropped caps other than applying them to each individual paragraph using the plugin.

I would think that Framemaker would be a better app for a project of that sort, since it seems to be primarily text layout.

Other than writing a script to handle it, I think you are right. No easy way to do that. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hi Eggles and viol8ion,

Many thanks!

In the near future, i will adopt Adobe Framemaker as my Page oriented app.

By now, I will continue to design de bible with pm652 limitations --yes, manually aplying dropped caps to the Holly Text... :(

With a document as large as you are creating, make sure that you divide the project into many smaller sections with no more than 50 pages per section. PM tends to 'choke' on larger docuemnts with many pages.

Good luck. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
