I have just installed an IPO 500 V2 with 2 BRI ports

The customer has had ISDN2 installed but there is one line coming into one ISDN2 box then there is 2 more ISDN2 box's linked to the first one.

I connected the first BRI to the first port on the first ISDN2 box which works and gives 2 channels but which ever port I connect the 2nd BRI port I get intermittent dial tone.

Does anyone know how to get the extra 2 channels working ? there are 3 ISDN2 boxes with 2 ports on each ?

Thanks

BRI are as simple as connecting a standard patch lead from either of the ports on the ISDN NTE box to the correct port on the phone system. Nothing else is usually required. However having 3 ISDNs and 2 ports means you will be likely to miss calls.

Thanks Pepp77

If the ISDN2's were separate it would have been easy but with the 3 linked together I couldn't get the second BRI to work.

Do you know which port on the on which ISDN2 I should connect the 2nd BRI too ?

Indeed, you have 3x ISDN2(6 channels) but only 2x ISDN2(4 channels) on the system.
You need one lead from each of the ISDN2 boxes (either port, they're both the same)on the wall to a port on the system.
No leads should link the boxes on the wall together at all.

So you need another ISDN card fitting to the system or to reduce the channels you pay for down to 4 :)

The ISDN boxes should have labels on them showing the telephone number of the circuit and the channel numbers

ie 0207 123 4566 1/2
0207 123 4566 3/4
0207 123 4566 5/6

You would then connect 1/2 to the first port on the BRI card and 3/4 to the 2nd port on the BRI. This would minimise the missed calls. You can use either port on the NTE to connect to the phone system, they both do exactly the same thing (although for neatness I always use the left port when looking at the box on the wall).

Thanks I will check how many channels are live and go from there I think.

Thanks for your help
