Goodday all,
Just a short question, is it possible to run 2 primary nameservers on one ip subnet. They act as primary for some sites and secondary for others.

When i ping by ip address, no problem, but pinging by host name on the second master keeps returning "unknown host".

I should however say that the domain name portion of their FQDN's is the same ie ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com. ns1 is authoritive for that domain and ns2 is secondary.

Any help please.

The different primaries need to know which domains and subdomains the other is primary for. You might seed them with NS and SOA records.
