I have multiple BCMs and build a shared folder for each BCM to keep my backups separate. With over 25 BCMs and growing, the problem is that I want build one shared folder and have sub-folders for each BCM, but when I tell the BCM to go to Folder and sub-folder Example: Backup\BCMten the BCM will not accept the input which forces me to build a share for each BCM.
This question may be better off in the XP forum but I am hoping for any help I can get.
Next: Is there any way to automate the backup so that the BCM will overwrite the previously existing file, or rename the new one?

Make sure the sub folder(BCMten) is shared and then only use it (BCMten) not Backup\BCMten. So your volume info would look like this \\IP address\BCMten

If you schedule the backup to run daily, weekly or monthly then it will overwrite the old info. Once you select your volume and schedule the backup it will ask you for the user and password for the selected backup location and then remember them so it can run unattended.

Jdavid99,
Thank you. Your suggestion shows an understanding of the problem. This is the only way that I have found that works also. I am not sure about the overwrite as the (dumb) backup application asks for a new file name if a backup already exists.
I guess that I have found that if it were easy then they wouldn't need me to do it.
Thanks to everyone.

just to elaborate...you can still keep all your backups under the main folder Backups. just don't put it in the volume string. your directory tree would still actually be as follows C:\Backups\BCMten but in the BCM BRU volume info you just put \\ipaddress\BCMten it will go to the right place. also if you let the scheduler run the backups as opposed to starting it manually then you don't have to rename the report file. each time it runs it will overwrite the log file and remember your login and password. it will run every time unattended. each manual start will require you to rename the file. hope this clears things up.

Thank you jdavid99. The information about the scheduled backups overwriting the log file is something I was hoping to hear.
Question to aragon. Can you buy NCM sized a small as 100 BCMs? I thought that the licensing started at a much higher count. Are there any other features that make NCM a good tool and justify the expense? I am specifically interested in IP monitoring & testing.
tek-tips is the only place I have been able to find the answers I need.
Thanks everyone.

FTP question.
I hate to be so late with this one, but would FTP be easier than setting up all the shared folders? I do not mind setting up numerous folders but setting permissions over and over and etc. etc. is $#@!&**& crazy. Also you cannot copy the shares so if I lose the HD I would need to set permissions again.
Thanks
