We have install a Windows 2000 server with a networker client. The server make multiple backup everyday with this message :
savegrp: hn077:C:\ will retry 5 more time(s)
And D:\ is backuped 10!!!!!!
We must kill this backup...soi the index fail and we couldn't verify our backup..... but in the log we have many times this messag :
nsrd: hn077:C:\ done saving to pool 'LBKnormalfiles' (001435) 75 MB

-What OS is this client?
-Are you backing up "All", or just C: and D:?
-Why do you kill the backup? Does it just hang? Why not let it run to completion at least one time?

1) The client have a Windows 2000 OS
2) ALL
3) Because when he finish the first ALL backup, a begin a second ALL backup...after a third backup and so indefinitely!!

Here is the log file :
11/21/01 02:01:07 nsrd: index warning: Filesystem containing file index for client 'hn077' is getting full.

I am going on the assumption that you are using a version of Networker that is 5.7 or older. It looks like one of these things:

1. Drive on your Legato server is getting full, though at an index size of 11mb that seems unlikely. I don't know your server though so you should look at that.
2. Index corruption. You can try to repair it using the following commands in order from a command prompt on the backup server: (This will take a while)
nsrck -F hn077
nsrim -X
nsrck -X hn077
3. If that doesn't work, stop the networker services on the server, rename or remove the client index entry.(should be nsr\index\hn077). Restart the services and the server will create a new and empty index that should work for you.

If you are using Netowrker version 6.0, upgrade ASAP. Anything newer and I would only try options 1 and 3 as written. Use nsrck -L6 instead of option 2.

Good luck!!

This doesn't work....
i have Legato 6.1 installed...

Your server maybe 6.1, but the client is not 6.x, you are still getting the continuation save sets that is a sign of pre 6.x client code.

there might be a problem with the permissions on the drives that it is trying to backup. Also the previous post about index problems is a possibility.

I would stop the networker client software and open up a command prompt on the client, then go to the directory where nsrexecd.exe is located (this is the client software) then start nsrexecd from command line like this "nsrexecd -D3". this puts the client code into a debug mode and it will allow you to see what is happening on the client. re-run the backup and watch the client, see what it is doing when it tries to restart the drives. If you can pipe the output to a file.
