Multiple Back-ups on one Tape

I have Back-up Exec Version 5. I am trying to find out how to reuse tapes daily by updating CHANGED files while leaving other files that have not changed alone. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

To begin with I would upgrade to a newer version of BE eg. version 8.6 and take it from there.
I don't even remember how old that version is that you use.
