Has anyone used this new feature? I have a customer that insist on having all 7 POT's lines on all phones. They want it to work as a key system.

Thanks

They had a partner system before. They hate the park buttons and say they loose calls when they park them. I tell them they are the only user out of hundreds I have installed that have that issue so just trying to make a customer happy. Its a R10 now so no cost to get them to r10.1.

I have had customers that like "Hold" buttons better than "park" buttons.... Hold 1, Hold 2, Hold 3, etc..... obviously the same thing, but the hold terminolgy is a little more familiar to them :)

But no joy either.

The IP Office is NOT a key system, at best it can emulate one.
If they really wanted a square key system they should have bought a Panasonic or something alike.

The customer was told before hand how the new system would work about parking calls and trained. All I want to know if any one had used the new feature in 10.1 and does it work.

You are right I deleted my post. I have not tried that feature I have no information either way on it.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

If the customer wants all 7 POTs lines on all of the phones, why not just program line appearances for each of the lines? This functionality has been around in IP Office forever.

Create a User Rights group for all of the users to fall under, add all 7 lines as Line Appearances on the keys and away you go?

the problem with Line appearance is that it doesn't work nicely.
All phones are busy when a call comes in even if they don't ring so if reception has user buttons they light up like a christmas tree and are annoying as heck.
It has a few more shortcomings that I just can't think of because I flat out refuse to install line appearances except for door phone lines.

If you are on R10.1, you can setup incoming call routing for the 7 POTS lines to go to 7 different phantom extensions. Then program the MADN SCA of each phantom extension on the phones. Set each phantom extension to dial out a specific POTS line using user short codes so users can use the MADN like a line appearance.
Calls can also be left on hold on the MADN SCA by one user so another user can easily retrieve it by pressing the MADN SCA appearance on their phone.
Hope this helps.

Nice one CASS
did you try that out yet or is that just the same way Nortel would have done it :)

Either way creative thinking I'd say

The only reason why the customer "Looses" calls when they park them is because their caller is getting fed up with waiting & clearing down!

It doesn't mater how you present the calls if the staff are not going to deal with the callers promptly

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
