Multiple Agents / One Phone

I'm sure the answer to this question is as plain as the nose on my face, but apparently i have deminished sight.

Suppose there are 3 ACD Agents on 3 different shifts sharing one phone. Of course I can only program one agent on the actual phone, but the three agents log into this phone. When I look at Meridian MAX I can only see the agents with phones associated with the agent ID. I've added the agents in MAX to the Agent Definition under Parameter Administration, I've added the agent ID to the Supervisors Definition under paramenter administration, I've tried to go into configuration control to pull up the agent and assign a supervisor but it doesn't recognize the agent. What links an agent to a supervisor if there is no phone programmed specifically for that agent?
 
agent id, not station id...

Most places I have worked used the last 4 digits of there SS # as there agent ID and thats what they used to login on any ACD phone and thats how you track them in MAX.
