Help, we have inherited an Access97 data base that is going live on Monday morning, but is refusing to let more than one person use it at a time?

Well if you have tested a different database in the same exact client-server distribution, and it works, then it would be a problem with this specific database. If you've already tried compacting and repairing, try creating a new shell database, and importing all objects into it, then renaming the new shell to the name of the real database. This often solves 'mysterious' problems.

Check Tools,Options, click Advanced tab, make sure db is set to shared.

gonna try compact and repair, thanks

Compact and repair didn't make any difference.

and neither did importing in to a new database.
