I am looking for information regarding Multipass SQL.

Is it a concept for sql engines only, or it it an approach I can use in actually writing a query?

My context is wanting to query multiple fact tables which share a common dimensional surrogate key in a dimensional datawarehouse. According to Messr Kimball, multipass sql is my answer.

Information appreciated.
