multilanguage in crystal reports 10 - dictionary? 1

Hi,

Crystal Reports 10. Need to display static texts in Multilanguage ( Ch, Jp, Fr etc 4-5 different languages ) depending on language parameter. Based on previous suggestion from here, was able to display the language text. Currently using a function in repository and calling via a formula. Each static texts has its own function. So if there are around 200 static texts, there would be 200 functions.

On searching, I read about having dictionary and user function library. Anyone have idea about creating the dictionary, if it should be text file or what kind of file format. What would be a good approach for the multilanguage in crystal report.

The way that Saba does this is to provide a UFL which allows for various types of calls, and then they have a text file which contains the local customization (they term this process localization).

So a UFL calls a function, the function looks into the text file and pulls the appropriate attributes or text.

Thank you, synapsevampire, once again. Based on your previous suggestion of using 'case' for language parameter, the different language texts come out great!

I just did one sample report with 4-5 different languages, aroung 10 static texts. Now there are about more than 200 texts for all the reports.

I create reports straight from the Crystal report designer 10. Reports accessed from Crystal Enterpirse server.

Is there any URL you would suggest for creating UFL and the dictionary. I read indexed files are good. Any leads as to indexing the text file.

What does this denote? "UFL which allows for various types of calls"
