Hi all
I am having some problems setting up SLP (for a Novell client install). SLP
is running on the workstation as if I use Konqueror I can browse the services available locally but I can't seem to find any out on the network.
I have added a multicast route:
# route add -net 224.0.0.0 netmask 240.0.0.0 dev ra0
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use
Iface
192.168.2.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 ra0
loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
base-address.mc * 240.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 ra0
default . 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 ra0
but if I ping the multicast address it doesn't even reply from itself
(tested on another workstation and works ok) -
# ping 239.255.255.253
Heres an ifconfig output that claims multicast is enabled:
ra0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:116:20:39:4D
inet addr:192.168.2.2 Bcast:192.168.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::211:d4ff:fe20:411d/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:18318 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:23516 errors:495 dropped:495 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:8917 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:13717226 (13.0 Mb) TX bytes:3231982 (3.0 Mb)
Interrupt:11 Base address:0xc000
Running SUSE 10 with kernel 2.6.13-15.7-default
Drivers for wireless card are ralink2500 ones not ndiswrapper
Although this is a wireless card I'm not sure if that has any bearing on the problem or not. Any help or nudging in the right direction would be much appreciated
