I am working on a project with our engineering department here. The way the system works is when it is one unit, which is the configuration in the attached file, it is a standalone unit. It uses multicast addresses for most its communications. When they want to do multi-unit training, which is two or more units connected together, they want to use the router to forward some but not all of the multicast packets to the WAN interface. They want to be able to filter by ports. This could be done either on the LAN or WAN side. The WAN side will be connected to LAN of another broadband router. This router will be another DHCP server and connect all the WAN ports of each unit to the LAN port on that router.
I have been testing with a Dlink DIR-655 Gigabit Gaming router. The router does allow multicast packets through when the option is enabled but I cannot block by specific ports. Is it possible to block multicast addresses by a specific port and if so, does anyone know of a low to medium-end router which can do the job?
I want to allow voice and some data through but not all the data.
