Hi..

I got an application broadcasting data by using IP Multicast.

by using this configuration below everything work well

data_source---switch---IP encapsulator----DVB_Decoder---DVB_encoder---client

but by using this configuration below by adding router in between there was data loss

data_source---switch---router---switch---IP encapsulator----DVB_Decoder---DVB_encoder---client

is ther any other packet tuning on the router other than just joining group multicast?

Please advise

Best regards,
Vincent

QoS, maybe? What kind of router, and what kind of data loss are we talking here?

I do test using cisco 2621 router ios: c2600-is-mz.121-27b.bin, 256M memory.
CPU utilisation is about 4%

I just sending this data only and no other data goes to the router should I do any QoS?

I do sending multicast data (text data) for about 70 entry per second, bandwidth needed is about 30kbps to 40Kbps average, but in several period of time there are spike traffic about 300kbps in about 2-3 second, and I think there ara loss data at that period of time. cause I just can see the result of the data received after end of session (about 3 hour) for about 6000 to 8000 row of data I may lost about 100 row of data.

how to check multicast error statistic on the router?

below are the interface configuration on the router
source data came from int F0/1
and client received from int f0/0

interface FastEthernet0/0
ip address 192.168.5.1 255.255.255.0
ip directed-broadcast
ip pim sparse-dense-mode
ip igmp join-group 236.10.10.1
duplex auto
speed auto
!
interface FastEthernet0/1
ip address 192.168.14.29 255.255.255.224
ip pim sparse-dense-mode
ip igmp join-group 236.10.10.1
duplex auto
speed auto

best regards,

Hello
Try taking out this line ip "igmp join-group 236.10.10.1"

Regards

Thanks minue,

and voila I got 100% data...with no loss

but why this effected to my data....it just join group of IGMP ...and I just want to receive from this grop only.
