Hi.
we are attempting to set up in-house "broadcasts" to all (or groups) of cisco phones.
Yes, there are "off the shelf" products for this, but they are not cheap AND we have already paid for this functionality (see below).

This has been frustrating -- there is documentation on how to subscribe phones to Multicast streams:
(see: RTPMRx)

We have successfully told the phone to subscribe to a multicast UDP stream of what *should* be the correct format:
G.711 mu-law 20msec packets (as per the doc).

This stream is produced using the MAST - Multicast Audio Streaming Toolkit (
It's like there is some small thing we are missing.
Any ideas?

We *have* successfully got a prototype "paging" system working between phones (using RTPMTx & RTPMRx), but
we cannot seem to get the phones to receive from a non-Cisco source.

Like I said -- I shouldn't have to fork out another $50K to Berbee or whoever for this -- the functionality is already there...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Barbarian

We had issues with "broadcasts" due to the firewall set up. You might want to check that.
