multicall accross cluster

Hi, is it possible to have a multicall line appearance on a cluster..

want to split two 5550 console between two controllers and have the main number ring on both

Remote DSS/BLF across a cluster is doable but your customer may not be happy with it. Due to signalling propagation delays across the cluster the line appearances will not be synchronized as far as timing of events.

The call will begin ringing on the local machine a couple of seconds before it starts ringing on the remote and then continue ringing on either the local or remote 1 more ring cycle after it's already been answered on the other node. This causes user confusion, frustration and "your" phone to ring.

We never tried this with a console, but did try it once on a few instruments and were asked to remove the feature a couple days later due to the intermachine signalling delay.

Remember, Clint Eastwood (Heartbreak Ridge) taught us that "cluster" is only two syllables of a 3-syllable word.

I see that as 2 questions.

Multicall is not possible across 2 controllers. The only option is DSS keys. (Delay ring is not an option with DSS)

I have not tried the 5550 LDN across 2 controllers. Based on what I know, I would say it it unlikely to be possible. I've been wrong before though.

You cannot have a remote dss of a console.

thanks guys...cause it's a clustered environment, I just put the two 5550 consoles on the same controller and assingned mulitcalls for the main number on both...

they'll just have to live with it for now I guess...
what I have done is assigned night1 routing to another set so that at least they'll have some sort of comms.
