If Paradox 8 is set up to run on a Novell LAN, does each person have to have a unique userid in order for record locking to work correctly. The setup is a training setup where each person has the same userid and password to log on to the network. They will all be working on editing the same table(s) data and I was wondering about data corruption due to record locking mishaps?

bmh2,

I don't believe you'll have a problem. In a previous life, I ran training sessions for both Paradox and Delphi on a fairly regular basis. If memory serves, the lab used the same username and password for each workstation. NAturally, there weren't any problems, except the one's we'd engineering into the courseware.

Hope this helps...

I've enabled a few users on our Novell LAN to allow concurrent logins (I assume that's also what you've done for training). I have not seen a problem, but I admit that I have not adequately tested it either. I recommend a test before training with live data.
