Multi user database Exclusive Access problems

I have a multi user database. On occasions amendments have to be made to the database, which i need exclusive access for. Sometimes it is a pain getting all users out of the database, due to lunches etc...
Is there a way of closing the database from my desktop? So when I re-open, i will get exclusive access (effectively closing the access application on an agents desktop).
