I think I read in one of the mercator 6.5 documentation that You may call a run map from maps that are multi-threaded but the run map is not multi-threaded.

So, if you have 40 threads for MAP in the event server and they all use the same RUNMAP, the speed/throughput is determined by how quickly this runmap does its work.

Could one of you confirm and/or throw more details. Currently we use DSTX 7.5 on AIX. Is the above true for DSTX 7.5 and DSTX 8.0 also?

For my purposes, the run maps will either be set to unique audit logs or no audit logs at all.

We multithreaded runmaps in 6.5.2 and 6.7.1 and 8.0 testing seems to work well also. Hammered the server with grinder scripts to an excesive degree too. Course, we were running it on Windows with one CPU and performance sucked but.....

Need to follow the same rules in multithreaded runmaps as the eventmap.

If a RUN map is called from either more than one map or a multithreaded map, and the RUN map is single threaded by audit log or work area settings, you can get failures. Open work file or audit file failures. It is suggetsed that all RUN maps be thread safe, and you check your RUN statements to make sure they don't single thread the map (like -WD).
