We have a standard bar chart whcih sits on a single A$ Landscape sheet of paper when it is printed.

Problem is the end user can select a large number of items which run along the x-axis, this obviously causes problems whrh you come to display/print it.

Is there a way to say when the user selects more than z values for the x axis then the graph is split into 2 or more graphs each with upto z values on the x axis.

I would limit the data the user can use. Any bar graph that shows too much data is defeating the purpose of a bar graph. Bar graphs are meant to be simple and allow users to see information at a glance. Too much data can make it very complex and hard to read.

You would probably need to rethink the design, or perhaps suggest a different type of graph. Different parts of SSRS lets you enter expressions to allow you to control various aspects. You might want to have a look at the graph objects and see what is available.
