I'm using XP Pro on a laptop and have an additional monitor that I extend my desktop onto, however the monitor is always to the right of my laptop screen in terms of movement of the mouse, is there anyway to get it to appear on the left instead ?

Right click anywhere on the desktop/properties/settings/click on the monitor that you want on the left/select use as my primary window

Tried that, but the laptop for some reason does not allow me to set a monitor other than the laptop display as the primary via the XP GUI.

On the display properties screen you can simply drag the monitors into your preferred positions, you dont need to change primary or install other software, although Multimon is really good regardless.
