I have stumbled on a method to create MULTIPLE line cross-tab type reports which several of my co-workers have expressed gratitude for, as my employer does hundreds of cross-tab reports. It allows you have have MORE THAN ONE ROW/COLUMN intersection with a value in it, something like:
..........col1...col2....col3....col4...
MainRow
Row1 x x x x
Row2 y y y y
Row3 z z z z
and so on, overcoming the built-in limitation of one row per colum. For example, you can do a report by department with Budget, Projected, and Actual figures all lined up. This is NOT just a way around the "three row heading items" limitation, it's completely different.
My question is, would there be any interest out there in TekTips-land for me to put together a FAQ on this subject? I don't want to waste my time or yours if it's no big deal to most of you, but if a couple of people would like to see it, I'll put something together and post it up here, perhaps by the weekend.
I don't know if it's all that slick, but my coworkers went ga-ga over the ease with which it's done, so... ???
Post a reply here and I'll check in a day or so.
Jim Me? Ambivalent? Well, yes and no....
