I’m having a problem with understanding the config of AT&T 955 multi-line phones.
A brief history first. Set-up 4 of these in a satellite office. Main # on line one and the two other numbers on the other 2 lines so they could be transferred.
Now they want 3 private and one public. Reading the manual on these it states that the 4th line can be used as a private line. What’s not clear is do I make the 4 line the prim line and will it only ring on that phone. And will I need to jumper the lines at the block to do this?

It's been a while since I worked with AT&T NOKSU type phones.

With the 955, and the rest of the NOKSU telephones manufactured by VTech under the AT&T label, the first telephone line must be same at each extension due to the fact that the telephone sets communicate with each other via that line.

I will take a look at the manual to see what options are available and post again.

Page 57 of the AT&T 955 manual shows the chart that deals with private lines.

I think the following is what you want to do:

The main line that can be accessed by all users should be assigned to line #1. That will also allow for the system functions to operate. Line #2 & #3 will be empty on all of the sets and the 3 private lines are assigned to the respective users on position #4 of each of the sets.

This way, each user will have 1 common line and 1 personal line at their disposal.

Depending on which line the customer wants to use as the first choice for outgoing calls, make that one the prime line at each extension.
