I need to export a multi level bom as a txt file and have it be flat. For example:
Parent part 900000
Has 2 level 1 parts of:
120000
And 130000.
Part 13000 also has a part of 140000.
So over all the BOM is 3 levels.
I need the exported file to show this:
900000-120000
900000-130000
900000-140000.

I hope that makes sense! Thank you!

Crystal will allow you to alias tables - when you try to add a table that is already in the report, it will tell you that the table is already there and ask if you want to alias it. It will then bring the table in with a suffix of "_1", "_2", etc.

How many levels deep can you go? With your example of just three levels, here's what I would do (I'm assuming table and field names - change them as needed for your actual data):

1. Add the table to the report 3 times (Table, Table_1, Table_2)
2. Link from Table.Part_ID to Table_1.Parent_ID and likewise from Table_1.Part_ID to Table_2.Parent_ID. Make these left outer joins.
3. In the report, group by Table.Part_ID and Table_1.Part_ID.
4. Suppress the Group 1 header and footer sections and the group 2 footer.
5. In the Group 2 header, place a text box. Drag into it {Table.Part_ID}, type a dash ("-") and then drag in {Table_1.Part_ID}
6. In the details, do the same thing as step 5, using {Table_2.Part_ID}
