Hello,

I would like to have a Menu Node voice mail box that says "thanks for calling, please press 1 for english or 2 for spanish". When the customer presses 1 i would like another greeting to be played before the call is transferred to the destination number. I thought i would need to leverage a transfer only vm box, but i cannot figure it out using the built in help.

Any assistance is appreciated.

thanks

Assuming 3300, current software

Create a transfer only mailbox where the associated extension matches a speedcall that dials the external number.

If the external number is long distance make sure that override LD is checked on the speed call.

You are right 3300 MCD 4, I apologize for missing those details.

The destination number is an internal 4 digit extension that will have voicemail setup as a first alternate after it rings for 15 seconds.

To elaborate:

VM 7233 / Ext. 7233 - Menu Node

Option 1 - VM 7234 / Ext. 7237 - Transfer Only

7237 - Multi-key Extension

-

I hear menu node and press 1, that it says "You are being transferred to (VM Name)" , I hear Music on Hold for about 5 seconds then it says that extension is not valid please try again"

I am wondering if what i want to acomplish is even possibly or if i should just change the transfer only to a menu node with a greeting and say press 1 for assistance. Just nest menu mode's.

Let me know..

thanks

At a guess, extension 7237 is routed to voicemail on Busy/ no answer.

You have designated 7237 as a transfer only MB and as such cannot leave a message for 7237. This is what the message is telling you (again guessing).

If 7237 requires VM change the mailbox type back to Extension type.

7237 is a multikey extension w/ an vm extension mailbox 7237. The transfer only box is 7234 but i have entered in 7237 as the extension, assuming transfer only box greeting of 7234 will play then forward to the extension 7237. It just says the name of 7234 then comes up with the extension is not valid message.

OK I think I understand what is happening now,

Back to my original suggestion.

Create Speedcall 7234 with actual digits of 7237.

Here is the call flow:

Call answered by Menu node 7233
Greeting of 7233 plays offering option 1 and option 2
Caller selects option 1
Option 1 is configured for mailbox 7234 (transfer Only)
Voicemail transfers call to 7234
7234 matches speedcall
Speedcall Dials 7237
Extension 7237 rings
Call proceeds to VM 7237 on Busy or RNA

Note: The call flow would be much simpler if option 1 was configured to dial 7237 directly but I am assuming you have reasons for wanting it to be different.
