I have been sent a database that has multiple tbas ont he form, that are layered on top of each other. Does anyone know how this is done please? As this would be of great help to me in reducing the amoutn of forms i have. Thank you for your help already.

I may have mis-understood but if you just want a tab control then:

1.in design view activate the the toolbox
2.select the button that indicates tab control
3.then drag a control onto the form

The above will create the tabs.
New controls can then be placed onto these 'pages'. I have found that existing controls cannot be transfered to the tab pages.

Good luck

I know how to do that, as i have 9 tabs already, but, i want to make my form smaller so that screen size wil not hamper usabilty for people with laptops. So, i want to stack the nine tabs on top of each other so that the screen is smaller. Any ideas? Thank you for your help already.

The simple approach is to set the 'visible' property of the page to false using code whe you don't want it available. This would then simulate stacked tabs.

You also could change the Tab Fixed Width property on the tab controls format tab. This will cause your tabs to be wider and stack on top of each other. ljprodev@yahoo.com

Lonnie:

I've tried that before and have the tabs disappear off to the right with a navigation set (forward/backward) show up. However, if you set the multi-row property to yes they will stack. The drawback is that it takes up vertical space.

Personally, I prefer to use the Buttons Style. Presents a cleaner interface.

Where do i find the multi row property? i currently have 9 tabs, so nine pages on my main form. they make up the detail part of the form. I want to be able to stack the tabs, so that i can get it to fit in a smaller screen but i cannot find the multi row property. Can you assist>? Thank you for your help already.

In design view, select the tab control (ie not one of the pages, but the whole control) and click Properties. The multi-row property is under 'Format'.

Rob - thanks for that. One more question to get me sorted. How now do i get my nine tabs to stack on top of each other? I have tried to drag them, but no luck. is it just a case of having enough room under the header? Whats the best way, withouth having to re-do the pages as i have done so much work, and this is just a tidy up. thanks rob Thank you for your help already.

Matt:

They won't actually stack on top each other; you will get two or three rows of tabs depending on the width of the tab itself.

As Rob said, simply change the Multirow property to Yes and then tinker with the Tab Fixed Width to get the presentation you want.

Hope this helps you put the finishing touches on it.

Good luck.
