Hi,

I have a very simple home page that has a photo and three links that let the surfer choose between English, Spanish and German. I know how to optimize for English but I haven't a clue on foreign languages.

The HTML for the home page is written in English. If I am optimizing for the German search engines can I leave the HTML for that one page in English and still get a good rank?

Do Meta tags have to be in the language I am optimizing for?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Daniel

Search engines usually only spider the first page, (your language page), putting in keywords in the META tags in different languages will help, but don't go overboard with the amount of keywords. [deejay]

Hi mate,

What type of server are you hosted on?
Do you run the server or are you hosted by someone else?

Depending on how your server is set-up, you can actually serve the pages depending on the language set on the browser.

This means that, someone with the browser language set to German would automatically get the German page whereas someone English would get the English page..

This saves them having to click on the appropriate links..

Hope this helps Wullie
