Hi all,

I have an NT 4.0, SP6a box with 2 3C905C-TX NICs, tcp/ip only. During the nt install, I configured both NIC's with a 192.168.0.x/255.255.255.0 address. I remotly back up the pc. All was great.

Next I changed one of the NIC's to 193.168.0.2/255.255.255.0 address to enable it to talk to a new private frame/relay network router, 193.168.0.1, that MCI/Worldcom had installed.

The problem is that after changing the address to 193... my remote backup hangs, I sometimes cannot sign-on the the NT domain, and have problems browsing the network. Even if I change the ip address back to 192... the problem does not go away. I have to disable the network card to get things working again. I have tried re-installing the latest 3com drivers and re-applying sp6a. Nothing works. I've worked with multi homed NT before and never had a problem!

please help,
bill

Did you check your route tables to make sure they updated properly?
Al
atc-computing@home.com

The route tables look good. The odd thing is that the problem is intermittent, yet consistent. The server will work fine for a few minutes, then act up. This happens during any kind of file transfer operation (remote backup, or windows explorer copy).

Another thing is that copies work OK when the multi-homed server initiates the copy. But other servers trying to copy from this server fail to copy.

Strange...
