Good morning,

With my DS3 sitting idle the bulk of the night, I would like to start backing up a few systems over the point-to-point.

I am running AS2000 on W2k.

In the backup manager window I have added the domain and the servers I want to back up. (see below for what I've tried). No matter what I try they are always grayed out...

1) set lmhosts file with the domain information
2) verified that the backup server can ping the target server by name
3) tried adding the server by name and by IP address
4) something else that I'm forgetting this early in the morning... sorry.

Thanks in advance!

Eric

Across a router????

You have to open ports 6050 & 41523\41524 both directions.

cheers

So it Shall be Done!!

The router is wide open. It is a point to point between two of our offices.

More info:

In my corporate office I have an ArcServe box that see's the remote office with no problem. In the remote office I can not see the systems at the corporate office.

Question: is Arcserve dependant on WINS for this browsing?

thanks,
eric
