Multi-company single data table

Is it possible in the SQL version of Dynamics to have multiple companies therefore multiple databases point to the same customer files?

We have 5 companies in Dynamics and some of the customers are buying from multiple companies. We are currently set up so that if we enter a customer we need to enter it in each database. it seems like it would be easier if we could point all companies to the same customer data and only enter things once.

Each Company has it's own database and I do not think you can share customer tables. Unless there is someway to do it through code. But have you looked at the Professional Services Tools. This tool has options that once you create customers in one database it will trigger and create the same customer info into a company that you select. I use it for General Ledger accounts and it works great.

No I haven't looked at that. What, where is it? Does it work for editing info as well? such as changing address?

If you have one company set up, and are creating a new company, you can DTS the tables from the existing company and then delete the data you don't need in the new company.

It is on your 7.5 Install Disk as an Add product and can be used with the TWO Company for free, but you will need reg keys for your live system and that will cost you. 8.0 it install automatically. I am not sure if it updates prexisting Master records. It could because the function is called RM Master Trigger and that info is in the master table. I would check with Great Plains or your var.
