I have 2 companies sharing 1 IPO403 and I have the secondary dial setup to send caller ID over the PRI but both companies are getting the same outgoing caller id sent is there a way to add a second caller ID by extension or a way to specify a second number (i.e 8 and 9 both ) as sendary dial numbers?

you can add user short codes thet modify the CLI on an extn by extn basis
if useres have DDI then the IPO usualy sends the DDI unless it is being overriden by a user os system short code
you could also change your system shortcode to include the extn no as part of the cli as follows

sc [9]N;
number NS1234E

S signals cli to send
E= send extn number

thanks IPGuru but each company has its own Main line number and wants to send those numbers with all call originating from there phones (i.e ext 10 to 80 has caller id number 1112223333 ext 85 to 95 has caller id number 1112224444) currently short code for secondary dial tone number 9 is programmed to send caller id information for company 1 1112223333 so when company 2 dials 9 to get secondary dial tone it send compnay 1's caller id information. would this be more effective to program by extension and if so what is the sc to do so?

yes for company 2 add user short code

SC [9]N;
Number NS1112224444

it would probably be best to create theses (& any othr codes necessary) in a restriction profile so it can be appled to company 2 exts easily

I am currently trying to understand how to set up this for a client of ours.

I do not get where do u enter the short codes, in each user, or generaly for the system?

I also don't understand the s or s.

Right now we have [9]N or [9]1N

so how do i modify this to show the correct outgoing caller id?

Thanks!

[9]N is the short code the "number" string would be
NS1234567890

So for example
[9]N
NS3175551212

That would send the caller ID 3175551212 (assuming it's a valid DID on your circuit)

The "s" means "Send digits" basically. They are suggesting to make a "restriction profile" where you could create the short codes then apply them to the approiate users under their main user screen.

If you are unsure on ShortCodes it is well worth checking out that section of the manager help files.

It explains all the special characters & also gives some good examples of useage

A couple of times I used Si not sure what it does but it wouldn't work with out the "i". I think it's CO switch dependant.

I - Send data in an Information Packet rather than Set-up Packet.

What does this mean? Well I will give you and example from a real protocol analyzer.

When "I" is not used with "S" on a PRI NI2 to a 5ESS the protocol analyzer shows this:

Event 6 05/02/16 12:08:02 TEI 0

When "I" is used with "S":

You see that the Calling Party Number: Numbering Plan has changed from Unknown to ISDN/Telephony E.164/E.163.

CarGoSki,

I see the difference but I still don't understand why it makes a dffierence on some switches and not others. Or even why you would need to insert the "i"

Thanks,
Miles

Your best bet is to google Q.931. There you will find how the information and setup packets are laid out.

Remeber that different PBXs use different codesets of Q.931 therefore information is sent and received in different areas of the packet based on the codeset used. For example, I believe that Nortel uses codeset 6 where the IPO uses codeset 0.

Of course a legend and Magix use codeset 7 AKA ATT Custom.

So much to learn...so little time!

This was good for me. Is there a way to change the name and number outbound?
