Multi Column Issue

I am trying to create a report where the detail section does not span the 100% width of the page. I have some empty boxes that are labeled for users to scribble stuff in later all along the right side of the page. I tried using the format to multi column but now the things on the side dont show up at all whereas before i did that they showed up but repeated for each record in the details. Anyone know how I can acheive this?

You could try an empty text box and then set the border to a single line for top, bottom, left and right. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear

And how do I add a text box to a crystal report? I tried a text object but the ones i put in the section not covered by details after i used the multicolumn feature to shrink the detail section doesnt show up at all.
