I will be implementing a Multi-Carrier Responsible Organization on our critical Toll-free numbers. I have heard that AT&T, Sprint and MCI have a web-interface to route traffic based on percentage, time of day, area code, ect.. I'm wondering if anyone out there has implementd a 2nd redundant long distance carrier and set it up this way, what network carriers were chosen and how it worked out for you. Our primary carrier is Global Crossing and we were told that MCI/Worldcom would not be a good choice as they share much of Global Crossings infrastructure to offer true redundancy. We have a 24x7 (similar to 911) response facility which requires 100% up time, fast response to issues and competitive pricing. Thanks for your time with any feedback!

When I was with Mobilemedia Paging, I setup something similar with our toll-free numbers in California, but it was primarily by LATA and NPA. I would recommend Sprint, we used them as backup for MCI at the time and we had good service with them but that was in the 1990s. Don't know how they rate today. But what seemed to work the best was having an account and support team that would work with you and be responsive to your needs and available! The MCI teams I worked with in California and Atlanta always bent over backwards to help! Also I knew the network and what could be done when trouble occurred. I would make sure the service level is spelled out in any agreement or contract that you consider. Those are my thoughts.....
