I know how to change the mtu settings in Red Hat Linux
using the ifconfig command but, How do I keep the settings
permanently
 
Try adding this to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:

MTU=1465

Of course you would put what ever value you want. I just like that number. :)
