I have a requirement to find the actual lowest MTU value in a network, so I can plug it into a network simulation tool.

Google / internet searches turn up lots of references to the relevant RFC, but no programs which will do the business.

My laptop runs Windows 2000 so anything which runs on that would be most welcome.

The tools I'm familiar with are the following:
* Sniffers (There are a variety of them, I use SifferPro)
* TCPdump/Windump (Unix/Window capture tools
* Snoop (Unix capture tool)

I would start with knowledge base articles on the OS's that you are running first, then applications. It'll most likey be quicker then running around doing captures and analyzing it. Here's one for Windows 2000
enjoy
