Hi,
We are using Oracle 8i on UNIX. And we have client applications running on Windows NT. Client apps are developed using VB. We have middle tier business objects developed in VB. Can we use DCOM components running on MTS with Oracle on UNIX in the back end? Do we get the advantages of MTS when using with Oracle on a UNIX machine?

Thank you [sig][/sig]

Of course you can do it!But MTS+Oracle is not a good combination. The recommended way is MTS+ADO+SQL server.

I have tested MTS + Oracle on linux. It basically works. But the transaction is not supported very well.I cannot roll back a transaction when a Business Object call SetAbort.

My test environment is:
.MTS 2.0 + Ole DB provider for Oracle on NT 4.0
.Oracle 8 on Rehat linux 6.1

Maybe the COM+ has solved the problem!

Hope this helps you! [sig][/sig]

Hi!

We have successfully implimented application using VB6(ADO disconnected recordset),MTS and oracle 8i on Unix. OS was NT for test environment and Win2000 for implementation.

You have to add patchups and change in registry.
The help is available on microsoft.com
